Magnificent lidded jar done in an ornate baroque revival repousse motif from the antique sterling silver collection of Mrs. Marguerite Erskine Walker Westinghouse, wife of the famous American inventor, George Westinghouse. This regal treasure was masterfully crafted by the silversmiths of Tiffany & Co, c.1890. The repousse embellishment is absolutely stunning. There are beautiful shells, flowers, leaves and scrolls throughout the entire piece which is delightfully enhanced by an exquisite floral finial. Elegant decorative borders complement the upper and lower portions. It stands 5" tall, and measures 3 7/8" in diameter. It weighs a very substantial 264 grams or 8.5 ozs Troy. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing
